Membership Eligibility

MembershipIHIMN as an academic Institution and a professional body gives various classes of membership to both local and international members who are professionals in health, health Insurance, managed care and social care Sub-sectors or those in other related fields of human endeavor. The members and would-be members must be committed to the improvement and excellence in healthcare delivery system both locally and internationally.
 IHIMN believes that healthcare will only get better if all professions within it work together as a cohesive team. One of the strengths of the Institute lies in the range of expertise and experience of its members and the fact that the ultimate goal is shared by all - improved services for patients.
Within the IHIMN, there is a place for every kind of healthcare managers who meet its eligibility criteria and is committed to its goal and objectives.


Our Members are from:

 Primary care centers, secondary care centers, tertiary centers, mental health and community care centers including chief executives, middle managers and students.

  •  All sectors, whether public, private or voluntary.
  • Many kinds of organisations, including Primary Care Organizations, Local Healthcare Cooperatives, NHIS Staffs, Healthcare Foundations, Strategic Health Authorities, General Practice, Armed Forces, Community Health,independent consultancies, private and voluntary organisations throughout the service.
  •  A variety of professional with backgrounds in administrative or clinical practice.


Criteria for Membership
You are eligible to join the Institute as a member if you have:

  • OND/Diploma or its equivalent with 1 year post qualification experience in Health, Health Insurance and Managed Care Industry.
  • OND/Diploma or its equivalent with 5 years experience outside of the health sector e.g. Hospitals, Health Maintenance Organisations (HMO) and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
  • AND
  • Criteria for Full Membership    
  • BSc./HND or its equivalent with 1 year post NYSC experience in the Health, Health Insurance and Managed Care Industry.
  • BSc./HND or its equivalent with 5 years 'post NYSC experience outside of the health sector e.g. Hospitals, Health Maintenance Organization (HMOs) and the National health insurance Scheme.
  • A member of any locally of internationally recognized professional body.  He/She must have a good managerial ability and a demonstrable relevant skill.

If you do not yet satisfy all the criteria for Full membership, you may be considered as a member having met the criteria for membership while working towards becoming a Full member.

STUDENT MEMBER
Registration Fee: #2,000
Membership Period: 12 months
If you are a student in any tertiary institutions in Nigeria or Overseas, you may become a student member of the Institute while you can now apply for a Full member after graduation. Participants in any of our training programmes in the Institute can also apply for Student membership.
SENIOR MEMBER
Registration Fee: #7,000
Membership Period: 12 months
This category of membership is for graduates from any of the Nigerian or foreign Universities with a minimum of 5 (five) years post NYSC experience. Those eligible to join the Institute as a senior member must have met the minimum requirement for full membership as specified above.
CERTIFICATE MEMBER
Registration Fee: #5,000
Membership Period: 12 months
This membership grade is for those who want to be a certified member.
The minimum qualification for this category of membership is Diploma or OND or its entire equivalent.
The course fees for the certificate programme are #90,000.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER
Registration Fee: #7,000
Membership Period: 12 months
This membership grade is for those who want to attain the Associate Grade level haven qualified as a certificate Member and has passed the examination.

The only category of members to be considered under Associate membership is Certificate members who must have satisfied the requirement of the Institute for full membership.
The course fees for the Associate programme is #109,000,
ENROLLEE MEMBER
Registration Fee: #5,000
To qualify for our enrollee Membership, you must have at least 1 year experience as an enrollee in any of the Health Insurance programme either as a private enrollee of any HMO or you are enrolled in any of the public sector programme of NHIS in Nigeria or abroad. This category of membership requires the submission of a proof of such enrollment.
FELLOW MEMBER
Registration Fee: #10,000
Membership Period: 12 months
This membership grade is conferred based on the decision of the Board of the Institute. It is for those who has been worthy professionals in Health, Health Insurance and Managed Care Industry for a period of 10 years and has occupied a senior managerial position for at least, a period of 5 years. He must have also contributed immensely to the overall growth of the Industry through Knowledge and a show of professionalism.
 The total fees for the Fellow grade level are #130,000.  

HONORARY FELLOW
Registration Fee: #10,000
Membership Period: 12 months
This membership grade is also conferred based on the decision of the Board of the Institute. It is for those practitioners/professionals in any field that is related to Health, Health Insurance and Managed Care Industry for a period of 10 years and has occupied a senior managerial position for at least, a period of 5 years. He must have also contributed immensely to the overall growth of the Industry through Knowledge and a show of professionalism. Such persons, on the recommendation of the Board, can be given a Honorary Fellows Grade level of the Institute.

 The total fees for the Honorary Fellow grade level are #180,000.
CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP
 Registration Fee: #20,000
Membership Period: 12 months
This membership grade is for corporate organizations in the Health, Health Insurance and Managed Care Industry or any other related fields. The total fees for corporate membership is #220,000,
